Known Issues

Renkoo is a new application that is not without its issues -- so we thank you, oh intrepid early adopter, for your patience in using Renkoo while we work it all out. Below are some of the issues we know about and are in the process of fixing.

Supported Browsers

We test Renkoo on Firefox 1.5 & above, Internet Explorer 6 & 7, and Safari 2.0.4 & above. Of our supported browsers, Renkoo works best on Firefox.

Renkoo does not fully function on Opera, Camino, and Mozilla, and older versions of the browsers mentioned above. For such browers, please Switch to Basic Invites View to see your invitations.

We do not officially support pre-release, unofficial, or third-party versions of otherwise supported browsers. That said, we have tested "BonEcho" builds of Firefox 2 and the pre-release Firefox 3 (GranParadiso), and they work reasonably well.

Browser Issues

If you cannot see "My Invites": On most browsers that we do not fully support, you can use all of Renkoo except the dynamic version of the "My Invites" page, which will appear empty. To see your invites, click in the upper right-hand corner of the "My Invites" page, under the Renkoo logo, on Switch to Basic Invites View.

If Renkoo pages look funky: Please logout, clear the cache in your browser, and log back in. If that does not work, please tell us what you're seeing.

Multiple instances: Do not run multiple windows or tabs of Renkoo in the same browser on the same computer.

Safari users: When using the Standard "My Invites" View, any of the following will prevent you from either seeing updates or seeing your invites until you click "My Invites" again or Switch to Basic Invites View:

  • Reloading the page with Command-R or the reload button.
  • Cancelling the page load even after it seems to finish (the loading animation will continue indefinitely under normal use in Safari).
  • Navigating away from the Standard view of "My Invites" and then using the back button to go back to "My Invites".

Other Issues

Microsoft email: Forms in email do not work in Hotmail, even though Hotmail does display forms properly. Outlook also has issues displaying email forms. To answer an invitation, come to the Renkoo website "My Invites" page.

Email: If you do not receive email from Renkoo, please check your Junk email box. You can also add "noreply@renkoo.com" to your address book to improve our ability to deliver to you.

Instant Messages: Currently, Instant Message notifications from Renkoo are "best effort" delivery. As a result, sometimes IM's are dropped by the AIM and Yahoo! Messenger networks. You can improve our ability to deliver instant messages to you by adding renkoobot to your buddylist. We're investigating other ways to improve delivery.

Text Messages: Currently, we only support the four major U.S. carriers (Sprint, Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile) for text messages. The quality of SMS delivery is highly dependent on these carriers themselves; in practice, we have found that text messages on Verizon and T-Mobile sometimes take hours to get delivered.

Local data: At the moment we only have venue data for cities in the United States. We don't have good, cheap sources of non-U.S. local data yet. If you know of some, please tell us.
